A group of ten found guilty of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A persistent false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens ignored any factual proof contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
