Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
